2000 Mazda Millenia Millennium

This car was probably one of the worste ive delt with yet. The previous owner must have washed the car with a scratch pad or steel wool, it’s the only thing I can think of that may have caused this kind of damage. It’s a shame, IMO it’s a beautiful color with tons of flake, the body lines are sexy and has real clean look to it.

After doing a test spot for the owner it was realized that most of the panels on the car needed to be wetsanded and buffed out. The owner bought this car as a winter beater and did not want to pay for wet sanding. So we came to an agreement. Only 2 compounding and polishing steps and what does not come out he will live with. Kinda upset me cuase I really wanted to use my wool pads.

Process

Washed with Optimum carwash in foam gun, only 1 bucket, no grit guard, old mitt, no way was I gonna make this paint any worse anyways.

Clay- claymagic blue

Makitta rotary

Orange edge2K pad with optimum compound at 1800rpm’s

Blue edge2K pad with optimum polish at 1000rpm’s

Loung Hual polish/sealant (AIO)

Duragloss aquawax

Before I even touched it:

Foamed down with optimum, this is after 5 minutes of dwelling time:

Looks like you went ahead to do the job :) Love the complete change in color and depth! You mentioned that you loved the design of this generation, but I`d have to say that I love the last generation. It has clear headlights lens and a very graceful design.

Actually they are out in Ada, my father in law owns an 88 acre farm that had been shut down 30 some years ago. So he has a HUGE red barn and i built a pen coming out of one of the doors in the basement and then bought 2 piglets for $50 apiece. When they hit 200 pounds im taking them to the butcher.

Huge improvement! Honestly, I think you did great for the condition it was in. :)

Not sure I`d get a Mazda as a winter beater, at least based on the reliability of my 626. Solid drivetrain (Millenia has the same unless it is an S) but the rest of the car ain`t so hot. I hope your customer has better luck with his Mazda than I`ve been having with mine. The Millenia is a lot nicer inside than my 626 though...a lot nicer!

Great job! Some mazdas can be a real pain. I know the older early 90`s were a real nightmare, especially the green.

coupe- Great turnaround! I always liked the Millenias...good to see that one get a second lease on life :xyxthumbs

Wonder when Mazda quality started to drop off, and also wonder if it has to do with US/Japanese manufacture  Accumulatorette`s two 1980s Mazdas were utterly trouble-free...her GLC went 125K with only scheduled maintenance and her 626 Turbo had *one* non-maintenance problem in 96K..a leaky tail light.

"executed approximately eight dogs that did not perform well in `testing` sessions by various methods, including hanging, drowning and/or slamming at least one dog`s body to the ground."

Maybe more than a couple (which would be 2) and maybe killed doesn`t really describe what he did.

Back on topic, beautiful job and a huge improvement. I like that color green with the metal flake. :up
