Black truck of death

hello,



First time posting my detail work. My truck was my first detail test with my PC. It is a 2005 Nissan frontier (black. as you can tell)



Products:



Meguiars Gold class wash

Megs white claybar w/ megs QD

Prima "SWIRL"



Just doing the clean / swirl removal at this time and wasnted your response / comments on just about anything you might see wrong..



It was quite a big difference. I just think I need to go over it a few times and possibly with another pad



used the LC orange for the swirl

Just did parts of the side shown in the pics. 2x2 spots and did about 3-4 minutes per spot which what im told might have been too long per spot.

As yo u can tell. Pics 7 and 9 show that there are some pretty deep gashes in the paint due to previous off-roading on this truck. any suggestions?

That 50/50 looks amazing. Surprised you had that much correction. But then again, I don`t know how abrasive "Swirl" is.

At least the gashes are from actually doing some rugged with your car and not someone keying your car or what not.

Adam, That is some nice work there. A big time improvement for sure.



I have never used the Prima swirl, so I am not sure of the finishing ability. It appears to me that you need to go over the paint again with a white pad and something with less cut. That will give you a better finish without some of the micromarring that still appears to be in the paint.

I was gonna recomend the same thing, there is micro-marring that needs to come out for sure.

Again you did an excellent job for your first time! I think I had about 15 hours into my wifes BMW the first time I polished it with a PC. :chuckle:

White pad topped it off! thank you for the heads up. I dont have much garage space to work with...can only fit in half my truck at a time so this detail is gonna be a few days long. with my work schedule...looks like i can do 1/4 of the truck a day :(

wow, for a first time with the PC, that is great work.

I agree with GMBlack, go over it with something heavy first then finish it off with something lighter.

Again great work, big improvement, once you learn to master the PC you can move onto the rotary and then your black truck will be perfect again.

Thats exactly what i have to do with mine. I can only fit it in half way and becuase of time issues i can only polish a few panels a weekend. Takes a few months to get the whole thing done.
