I`m in the process of looking for a job and a house in the Austin area. I was speaking with a realtor and asked me if I was interested in sign a buyers agreement with him. By signing a buyers agreement, I would be committing to him as a realtor. He mentioned this was a Texas policy. Being from California, I`ve never heard of that before. If I sign a buyers agreement he will look out for my best interest. If I don`t sign a buyers agreement he would have to protect the seller.
Is anyone familiar with this?

Here are a few websites which I found to explain it a little more...
Using buyer rep agreements/Texas Realtor (http://www.texasrealtoronline.com/issues/1100/buyerrep/1100buyerrep.html)
Tyler Texas Real Estate - Buyers Representation (http://www.tylerhomes.com/buyers-rep.html)
Agreement: Texas Buyers Real Estate - Brokerage Services (http://www.texasbuyersrealestate.com/buyrep.agreement.html)
Are you going to be paying extra money just to enter this "buyers agreement"?

Thanks for the links. They are very helpful. I wasn`t sure if it was a Texas law or a company policy.
I appreciate it.
