I did this car in lots of heat and humidity! Scottwax...I still don`t know how you do it Sir... but, then again, I`m in my mid 60`s and have to watch my blood sugar levels...so maybe that`s a factor.

Anyhow, this was a pretty dirty car and had plenty of light swirls and loads of brake dust. I used a full bottle of Meguiar`s Hot Rims cleaner for the wheels and neutralized the product with soapy water.

Next up was the interior before the temp rose to the high 90`s. I could do the body work in the garage, but I like to get the interior outside to see better. I used my "secret" mix of APC + dishwashing liquid + water (diluted approx. 10-1) and a boar`s hair brush to clean and terry towel to remove. I also tried a new vacum by Ridgid: it`s about the size of a small portable generator, very light, and all the cords and attachments fit inside. Very nice portable unit and also has a reverse blower.

On to the body: I used Menzerna IP and 106ff to get the paint in good condition. For this leg of the journey, I had my Festool on Rotary mode with a Meguiar`s 8006 pad.

Finally, I used the Festool in random orbit and Pinnacle XMT 360. Great stuff that works as advertised and leaves a nice sealant.

Start to finish was just under 8 hours with tons of water breaks!

Totoland Mach, I don`t know how you do it. I`m in my mid 50`s with normal blood sugars and I don`t think I could keep up with you. :o

Great job on the AMG, looks terrific. I`ve used XMT 360 once, worked great. :bigups

Stellar work sir! I like how you got the inner rims clean, too. :)

I LOVE that car, but I think it looks best in silver, it shows the lines better.

You do some damn fine work! :)

I get used to the heat very quickly, plus I regularly ride 24-35 miles after working outside all day. The main problem this year is we had 3 very wet months leading up to August and it went from around a 90 average to around 102 in a matter of days and the humidity was just unreal. I ended up with a nasty heat rash because of it.

Wow that looks great! I see the festool works well for you, I`d like to get one. Damn, I`m only 26 and I can barely stand this heat. I had 5 cars the other day and had to stop at 3. Anyway, like I said, it looks great. I love that car.

THAT LOOKS GREAT! Judging on the pictures, you are a VERY FIT mid 60 year old! Do you have diabetes? Me and my father have diabetes (hes 63). Eating eggs in the morning REALLY helps us get through the heat and keeps our suger levels nuetral. All i can say is DO NOT eat something sweet (candy other sweets), because it will shoot up your suger then let it come crashing down. However it looks like you can handle it so i probobly should`nt have write this. But the car looks GREAT!!!!!! Just wish i had enouph money to buy a 100,000 dollar car lol.

Yep: I`ve had it for about 17 years. A couple of year`s ago, I started on a 24 hour insulin called Lantus...good stuff.

The heat can really crash my sugar levels if I`m too exhausted. I do keep some Skittles handy just in case (tried to keep a Snickers bar but that turned to melted goop!)

The car was fun to do! I didn`t even realize Mercedes built a 4 door street rod!

When I finished the car Saturday, I went back to the Bimmer Shop to finish a 2000 740iL that has 100,000 miles on the odometer. This was a chore to work correctly, but the car came out pretty nice on the finish and I`ll whip out the interior tonight.

Couple of pics....the black really came out nice in the sun. I`m liking the 3M Ultrafina SE more and more.
