Hi guys, I`m a newbie (wannabe) detailer and my neighbor asked me to detail his truck, he goes off roading with it and the engine is trashed in dirt. Can I even get this thing clean? There are a lot of areas that are difficult to reach. Also, what needs to be covered to avoid getting wet? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Welcome to AUTOPIA! Yes anything can be cleaned. The nice thing about this being so dirty is that anything you can do is going to make it look better. Good luck. Do a search on engine cleaning; you`ll find all kinds of info and tips.

that mud shouldnt be too hard to clean up. It`s oil, grease, and various chemicals (brake fluid, etc, etched into metal parts) that make an engine hard to look good.

Cover the battery if you can and any electrical plugs and spray the mess out of it, use a pressure washer if you have one, then after that degrease the mess out of it and scrub it down and pressure wash it again.

It should look new after that.
