I`m trying to fabricate a simple fiberglass piece for under the hood of my street rod and am having some problems.
My main hassle is with the resin. It either gets hard way too fast or starts to get gelled (lumpy) and impossible to work with. I`ve yet to get more than 10 minutes of decent working time out of the resin.
Maybe it`s the stuff I`m buying OTC: Bondo brand resin. The first batch I had was a few years old so I thought it might have been past the shelf life or I mixed too much hardener with the resin. I just used a brand new can tonight and mixed it all so there wouldn`t be a question on the amount of hardener needed...... same problem..... by the time I had the mat laid down the resin was getting hard.
