Infiniti G35-S: 1st Full Detail with UDM, KAIO, KSG, & P21S

Thanks to everyone here who helped me answer my questions before I got started with this.



These first two pics show the car when it was brand new. I hadn`t done a thing to it.

I won`t know if the investment of money and time was worth it, I suppose, until the car`s a bit older. I think it looks better than new, but my kids say they can`t tell a difference. At least I know I have tools to keep it looking this good.



I will say that I can`t wait to try new products. For now, I`ve got plenty of Klasse & P21S. For anyone new here, you`ll hear lots of people say to use KSG sparingly. So true. It`s not easy to work with.



The best tip I got was to mix KSG and water in a spray bottle (1 to 4), spray it on and wipe it off immediately. That worked much easier. I did my 2d and 3rd coats that way, and it worked wonderfully.

Great job on your new Infiniti Matrix. Very Jealous!! Thanks for the update. How did you like using the UDM? I know you didn`t use it for correction, but overall opinion. Also, how did you like the 5" LC pads? How were the vibrations with those pads and were they able to maneuver into most of the curves on your G?

VTechFan02, I`ve got to say that I love the UDM. I was able to do most of the work with one hand – I swear. So much for vibration issues.



The 5" pads worked beautifully. There were only a couple of spots that required me to do things by hand.



By the way, I`m an ECU Pirate (prof, not alum). Out football team opens the season against the Hokies in Blacksburg. I hope for a good game. It`s sort of a make or break year for our headcoach.

LOL, you know I was worried that when I chose that SN that people would mistake me for a Hokie. I was actually referring to my car because it has a VTECH engine (02 Civic EX). Though, you could say I am a Tech fan because my Fiance is in Vet School there and I am often in Blacksburg.

About the UDM, I am sooo glad you liked it. Now I really want to get one. I am guessing you used the backing plate that came with it for those 5" Pads?

You guessed correctly. I`m very happy with it.

You dont need to be that sparing. The best way to use KSG is to let it cure on the paint for 24 hrs. Its very easy to remove after that.

Thanks. I`ll try the 24 hour wait next time. I`ll do another layer of P21S tomorrow. I`m starting to see some swirls on the hood.

Really looks sharp!! The Klasse/S100 seems to be a compatible combination, producing that deep carnauba glow.

How true!!! I am in EXACTLY the same boat as you.



Three weeks ago I spent the better part of the day using the DC system and I was blown away with the results. Each step I thought it couldn`t get any better, but it did.

Then I sarted thinking...and reading, about a more advanced approach. I can`t help but think doing the Klasse/p21 would be a significant improvment.



Do you honestly think it was worth the extra work and expense. I love making my car shine, but I would hate to spend the extra couple hundred dollars (not to mention the cost of ignoring the wife for another day...lol) and not really be able to tell the difference.

To be honest, yes. Based on these results, I think it`s going to help me keep the car looking better than new. For better or worse, that`s important to me. Evidently, it`s important to you too. Look at it this way. Your car is an investment, in more ways than one. Detailing the car yourself helps you protect that investment. Plus, I think it`s a tribute to the idea that the work ethic and pride in craftsmanship isn`t dead in this country.



Further, once you get that first detail out of the way, you won`t be spending THAT much time on it. Get yourself the Sonus Carnuba Spritz. Quick detail the car on Sunday evening and Friday afternoon, and you`ll be set.

Lucky for me, I happened to start working on the car the same day my wife started reading the new Harry Potter book. We got done at about the same time. You can bet your last dime that I won`t be plugging that UDM into the wall next weekend.
