Can 303 Aerospace protectant be safely used on leather car seats? Can it be used in conjunction with a good leather conditioner? Are using both overkill?

You can use it on leather but persoanlly I would use a good product made specifically for leather. Using both is overkill.

Well, as far as I can see (if my logic is sound), any decent protectant product will repel the other product anyway, unless the product has cleaning agents in it as well.

Most vehicles have coated leather seats. A product like 303 is best for these. Some high-end vehicles ($$$$$) have uncoated leather. For these it would be best to use products specifically designed for leather.

What kind of car are you working on?

mbkintner, I`m new to the forum, and you`ve piqued my curiosity with regards to the coated seats comment.

I have a 2007 G35 Coupe with leather interior. Would they be coated?

(Sorry for the hijack waymay1305, though the question is somewhat related).

G35 is definitely coated/finished leather, as is 90% of every vehicle on the road. I use 303 almost exclusively on my customer`s leather. Easy to use and leaves a nice satin finish. Just be sure to wipe all of the excess off with a dry MF.

If a drop of water stands on the surface it`s coated leather; if it soaks right in it`s uncoated.

Thank you very much for the help guys!

One more question with regards to the 303...will it condition as well as say a Zaino or Sonus?

In response to mbkintner, I have a 04 Acura TL.

While I can`t say for sure, I believe your Acura has coated leather. Try the test suggested by itb76.

Real leather conditioner will only condition real leather (i.e. uncoated leather). A product like 303 will work perfectly fine for your seats.

I would like to know more about this coated vs. uncoated thing.... Are you saying products like lexol don`t actually condition the leather seats in 90% of cars? Do you have any pictures of specific examples for coated and uncoated? And the coated seats, what are they coated with?

I have a customer that has a new LS470L and I applied OPP a couple weeks back, but want something with a little more protection. Will 303 do the trick?

So using Lexol Leather conditioner on coated leather is pointless?

Also, would you need to use something (diluted Woolite, 303 cleaner, other leather cleaner, etc) before the 303 protectant?

The 303 is a protectant, so yes you will want to clean the leather first.
