This one was pretty rough in terms of swirls, otherwise everything went smoothly (as everything has since I have been using the Pro Menzerna polishes). This car is sweet, with a certified 384 hp at the rearwheels courtesy of a Pro Charger, custom suspension and monster breaks as well as a body kit.

The owner had gotten some water etchings and figured now was a good time to have some of the swirls removed. The car was just washed a couple days before, so all I had to give it a quick wipe down with Meguiars` Last Touch #34 before I pulled it out and took some photo`s.

Here are some pictures in the sun.

Same angle but with a faster shutter, I think this picture shows off the marring a little better.

I pulled the car in the garage and taped off a section of the hood. I tried a couple different polished but I settled on Menzerna SIP 83 on the rotary at 1800 rpms with an Lake Country 7.25` CCSorange pad followed by Menzerna 106ff on the rotary[/B at 1000 rpms with [B]Lake Country 7.25" CCS white pad. I only had time for 1 pass of each, though I may have gotten a little better correction with two passes of the SIP in certain, rougher areas.

I pulled the Infinti outside to check the untouched areas vs the test area. I left the camera on UV light so the pics came out a little wierd, color wise but you get the idea.

I made my way around the car, polished first with the SIP then following back around with 106ff.

Working around the car....

I then wiped the car down with IPA/water then hand applied Zaino AIO.

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m194/tropicaldetail/marrissacar/infiniti021.jpg

I let the Zaino AIO dry to haze and wiped off. This was followed by a Zaino Z6 wipedown and a hand applied coat of Zaino Z2pro. This was followed by Zaino Clear Seal and a final wipe with Zaino Z8.

Great job! What did you think about the G35 clear? I just did my first one yesterday and found it a good clear. Not too hard not too soft, just right IMO.

I agree about the G35 clear, it`s perfect. It looks so amazing when it`s polished up.

I`ve had mixed results regarding the clearcoats on these cars. I did a same year sedan and found the paint very soft. FPII and ZP-C both removed some rather hideous swirls easily, and I had to be careful about the paint micromarring when I was wiping off the polish.

This one was slightly on the harder side, though not too bad. Usually one pass of SIP is all I need, though this car could probably have benefited from another pass in certain areas. I did some correction on an 07 Vette a couple days ago (the hardest clear coat known to man, IMO) and the SIP removed most of the marring and etching on one pass. I have heard others with the same experience as myself, that is Infiniti paint is all over the spectrum in terms hardness and you never know until you buff it.

Great job Todd! How do you like the SIP so far?

I love it Ryan. Thanks for turning me on two it, it really has taken my detailing to a new level or at least allows me to get to that level faster. I am convinced that SIP with a Lake Country Orange CCS pad is detailing nirvana on a rotary!

Looks great! Very wet finish. :)

Just curious, have you notices on coupes (not just G35s) that the B pillar and top of the rear fenders have the worst swirls? I`ve noticed that on both G35s I have done recently as well as on a white Jaguar XK I did on Sunday.

Beautiful work Todd, the coupe really looks mean and quite concept car like without any badging. Curse you and Ryan for getting me interested in SIP and the CCS pads! Agh, more stuff to buy. :)
