So I was sitting at the end of an offramp last night when WHAM... out of nowhere got plowed into. I got out and the jetta that hit me was f-ed up pretty good. Hood, pass headlight, bumper, pass fender, radiator support, a/c condenser and a small oil leak.

We swapped info and got a report now I gotta get the truck checked out. The driver`s side of the bumper is pushed in about 1/2 inch at the bottom corner and the bumper step pad is trashed. Hopefully it just tweaked the bumper a bit. I can fit my hand between the body/bumper on the pass side, but not the driver`s side.

He`s lucky he hit me on the corner and not square on. That trailer ball would have not have been pretty going through the radiator.

Whatcha think tweaked bumper or frame?

Wow... From your pictures, I don`t even notice the damage? Looks like your truck held up pretty well against that Jetta. Can you take more direct pictures of the damage?

There`s really no better way to take any pics. The top pic is of the unharmed pass side. The bumper is a good 1" away from the body. The bottom pic is of the driver`s side where the bumper is almost touching the body. I hope it just rolled the bumper a bit and didn`t push the frame or something. The reciever hitch mounts to both frame rails as well as the middle of the bumper so hopefully it spread the load out as to not hurt anything.

Bumper is the problem. Collision Solutions in wake forest will take care of you with autopian standards in body repair.

I remember when my grandfather had his 2002 chevy and he bent the bumper back a bit almost like you did, we hooked up a tow rope to the bent side of the bumper and pulled it back out with a truck.

Lucky you were in a truck and he was in a Jetta.

Yup bumper is the problem, but did save you from worse damage.

Yeah, the bigger car/truck usually wins in these conditions. I discovered that today in my little tC vs. a Ford Excursion. I`ve got thousands in damages while he`s got a slightly bent bumper and maybe some missing paint. You`re lucky you were on the winning end of that encoutner.

Bummer. Looks like the damage isn`t that bad though. I bet with a bumper and maybe some brackets you`ll be all set. Be sure you do your research on shops before you drop it off. I`m currently having a heck of a time getting my car (Scion xB) fixed right at a local collision repair `specialist`.

On the way to work this morning I rear-ended a car at a traffic light.

The driver got out of his car. He was a dwarf.

He said, "I`m not happy."

I replied, "Well then, which one are you?"

Bumper. That`s why you always leave the trailer ball on like you did in this instance! Makes people think twice about following too closely.
