My four year old 9227 has had enough.

I reckon the bearings are gone, it`s vibrating badly, fighting me, very noisy and not keeping same speed at 1400 rpm.

It`s going in for a major overhaul but I am wondering what is the recommended maintenance routine for these machines?

Once I get it back, I wish to look after it better.

Has never been serviced before and done over 400 hours of work so I`m pleased at it`s longevity.

Can it get out of balance any way at all. It does not rotate perfectly circular.

When`s the last time you took it apart and blew it out with high pressure air? How about the internal brushes? I change the ones at the shop every few months because it does the same thing. (3-4 hours a day) They`re pretty cheap and worth trying. If you end up replacing it, make sure you save your down machine. Parts from it could come in handy some day.

Never done anything with it. Not very autopian of me is it

I will be keeping it, it runs and will work fine with the 4 inch pads

There`s no doubt that it will be back and I hope to buy a new one and use the old one for the edge double sided pad system.
