Finally got the chance to polish out my parents` 1993 Acura Vigor on Sunday. It was a cloudy day, perfect for using my non-sun-compatible polishes, Meguiars #83 and #80.

Process:

ONR the day before

Clayed with Mother`s Clay Bar+Meguiars Gold Class Car Shampoo

Meguiars #83/Orange LC pad

Meguiars #80/White LC pad

Collinite 476S/White LC pad

Tires: Meguiars Endurance Tire Gel + Toothbrush

Didn`t get any befores, because I don`t have any lighting to show the swirls (plus the lack sun).

As others have mentioned, the #83 was indeed hard to use. Even though the paint was not warm at all, and I polished a small area, the #83 still dusted very badly. Also, I found the work time of the #83 to be very short. I had to use my Long Haul QD to keep the surface lubed. Even with the QD, the 83 started dusting within a minute or so of working it. I used it at speed 5 on the PC, so I don`t think the speed was too high.

After using the 83, 80 was very pleasurable to work with. Long work time, not as much dusting, and in generally easier to use. It was really awesome to feel that literally "squeaky clean" feeling when I removed the dried polish from the car using my MF towels. Afterwards, I just applied one layer of Collinite 476S. Hopefully with a good prep, the wax will last longer.

Hope you guys enjoyed :) I`ll try to get some sun shots tomorrow if I can.

Great work, I always like it when people take photos of their detailing equipment. I thought the Acura was black until I saw the pic where the sun hit it just right and it turned purple. Nice!

Wow, that vigor is in great shape and you did a really great job, I used to own one, loved it. I have seen a lot of vigors in horrible shape, are your folks the first owners?

Way to breathe some life back into an old-time Acura. I plan on doing the same to our beater sometime this summer too.

Cheers,

You shouldnt let your polish dry to the paint.

BTW, your camera flash would have picked up the imperfections.

#83 dusts, that`s just the way it is. Nice job, like Coupe I thought the car was brown until it picked up black cherry in your flash.

My buddy had one of these cars, a stick shift, black, same interior color as yours. Really love the Vigor, its chassis matches very well with the engine.

Yours looks amazingly well kept. Wow!:xyxthumbs Paint is amazing!

Thanks for the comments, I really do appreciate it :)

Coupe, I`ll try not to let the polish dry next time before removing it. Do you have any tips to prolong the work time of the #83? Or should I consider using a different polish?

dmbfaninatsx, we are the second owners of the Vigor. Before this it was owned by an elderly couple. At the time, it wasn`t in great shape, but pretty acceptable for a 14 year old car :) I kept it up by waxing and claying, but never got around to polishing until now.

Thanks again! Couldn`t have done it without the tips from this forum. Oh, and I also want to thank RCBuddha for being generous to provide me with ONR samples so I could try it out. It`s definitely a product that I will be using in the future!
