Summer Clean-Up :: 2003 Tahoe-Z71 & 2005 STS



Pollen Season is finally over, so I decided to clean up our rides for the summer season.



Process Used:



Wash: Z7 & Foam Gun & Euro Mitts, & Brushes

Clay: Z18 & wash mix for clay lube.

Wheels: Hi-Temp Tire Cleaner & EO A2Z. I’ve been using this combo lately on wheels, tires and wells, and it’s been a very effective cleaner.



Polish:

ZPC @ 1500 via LC 6.5†CCS finishing pad (final pass done at 1000 RPM)

ZAIO by hand



Protect:

Z2Pro x 1 (paint, glass, wheels, lighting)

CS (same as above + plastic trim pieces & jams)

Z6 Wipe Downs between Coats



Tires: Z16

Wells: NL

Yes I have. IMO Megs wheel brightener is too strong (even when you cut it) for well maintained wheels. I only use it on very neglected wheels.



A2Z does the trick for me on most jobs -I use it on my personal vehicles once a month, and use double strength wash solution in between.

mgm121499- Nice work. Getting a black Tahoe good enough for Zaino is impressive, as it the fact that you didn`t have to get too aggressive with the correction. Sounds like your wash regimen is nice and gentle :xyxthumbs



Heh heh, I see the bare incandescent bulb reflected in the STS shots, so I *know* you got that silver in good shape ;)

Terrific John. I use Z-2 Pro on my silver paint and I have found nothing better.

Unfortunately I ran across indecent bulbs that fit on my garage door openers, and they can make you smile -or- cringe. Those nasty lights can pick out defects that you`ll never see under full sun, unless you`re looking *very* close (on angles) for them.



You want them? Sooner or later, they`re going to drive me nuts :-)

Yes, I used Z2Pro & CS on both as a base, but will layer Z5Pro over the summer for *looks* -because there`s plenty of protection on the paint.



Z2Pro is very clear and reflective, and Z5Pro will add depth to both colors. Most people prefer Z2Pro on sliver, but I really like the additional layer of Z5Pro (again, for looks).

Incredible depth and wetness on both! The z2pro looks great on both rides. I must say, besides the paint being flawless, the trim and wells are spotless. I would easily eat a meal off them. LOL.



Btw, I think I see a sanding tracer on the hood. ;)

Heh heh, I have rows of high-wattage incandescents in my shop just because they work so well for swirl-spotting on silver :D And a hand-held light of that type too. As you`ve found, that`s about the most demanding lighting you can get (for better or worse depending on your perspective), and I myself love `em. Sometimes I feel like a glutton for punishment, but at least I don`t have many surprises out in the real world; I *know* what condition my paint is in, whether I like it or not ;)



Satisfying when you get things good enough for those lights, huh? And silver just looks *different* when you`ve removed that usually-invisible marring.
