Todays detail, UDM`d 05 Carerra S (Black) deja vu.

Another new Porsche client, who just happens to own a BLACK Carerra S.

The owner purchased this used from a dealer. He expressed to the dealer he didnt want any prep work done before pickup. Its one of those "Die if I do, Die if I dont". This poor carerra had been exposed to sprinklers for some time. It really had some heavy water etching which I was able to reduce about 50%. Im really worried it may be too late for removal though. I`ll take a little out next time and see what happens with further leveling it. I really like to approach used black cars slowly, over a period of time. I dont know where they have been, or who has done what to them. This Carerra was pretty well swirled up, but I kept fighting temptation to press on with the attepting futher removal of the water etching. But my common sense prevailed. I should have (well here I go again, talking out loud) tried a yellow pad first. i probably could have corrected it a lot farther and quicker. Total time on this little car, 5.5 hrs. I started with NRWS, the the UDM with an Orange pad, FS BS MCC. Followed with green pad FS BS SMR. Sealed up with FS UPP (Im glad I did!) The last few times I havent used it, as I was trying new products. I missed it to say the least.

So how was using the UDM on black Carerra Patrick?

Its the third full detail I have used it on, about 12 hours worth of details. I believe I have a pre-production model which has an issue with the switch that keeps haunting me but David has assured me a new swithc when they become available....Good machine! Plenty of power, takes a little getting used to in comparison to the original model. Its not quite as easy to manipulate on the lower vertical panels as the 7424.

Its every bit of the 20% promised! Its biggest feature in my opinion is its resistance to bog down. Even with added pressure, its not really distinguishable. Thanks for clearing up the acronym confusion. FS BS LC (light cut) MC (Medium Cut) SMR (Swirl Mark Remover) polishes arent real well known yet, but I suspect as they get into some good hands, they`ll become popular.

The paint itself came out really well. But the darn water etching I probably reduced about 50-60%. Just a little at a time as its a daily driver. The etching is hard to notice unless you get real close. The owner is already requesting some additional work down the line for maintenance. He also has a new RR he wants sealed up.

If I interpret things correctly pre-production model is supposed to be one with less vibration. How you compare it in that area against the PC?

Well it vibrates a little more then the 7424. Nothin I cant tolerate though. Like I said, this machine just takes a little getting used to.....The Titan Im doing today will really test the vertical panels, because there big panels.....

:nixweiss Well. I thought DavidB said units with full aluminum casing vibrate less than later design, and that aluminum were pre-production units, and that Pat has one, and you are Pat with pre-production unit so ... I`m confused :nixweiss
