this is my wifes car, the factory paint is pretty bad so i made it a chore for myself at the end of the day to wetsand a panel at a time.

i spent a lot of time polishing this via pc with the xmt line when we first got it, i was pretty much pissin in the wind when youre swirl free and still look that rough, im pretty much sanding one panel at a time during off hours. should be done within a week. if anyone wants i`d be more than happy to do a complete write up w pics while i sand the rest. if it could help anyone.

some people like to use OP with wool straight after wetsanding. Finishes up nice and can save you some time.

I would love a writeup on the steps you took and products you used. I am going to wetsand my tundra soon, and I am trying to find out as much info as possible about wetsanding.

Looks great so far. It lost its razor burn. I think a full write up would be greatly appreciated :goodjob

Looks great! It is amazing how some GM paint jobs have so much orange peel. I have to do my wife black Suburban but the orange peel isn`t that bad. That must have taken you a long time. Like everyone else said a detailed write up would be great. Again, nice job!

Wow, major and noticeable improvement. I`m sure it would benefit a LOT of people if you could do a write up. It would be greatly appreciated!

I know a guy that works at a body shop at a Chevrolet dealership and he said that gm wants the vehicles to look that way now. Can you imagine how aggrevating it would be to try to match the factory orange peel after you have already mastered laying the clear down really slick?

ok heres what i used.

first make sure to soak your papers 20-30 minutes prior to paint contact.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3124.jpg

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3153.jpg

first tape up edges and surrounding areas you don`t want accidently getting scuffed or buffed.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3123.jpg

wrap your paper around your foam block tightly pinching it on the sides for stability while making sure you have good even pressure on the entire block

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3126.jpg

spray some lube on the surface, i don`t think it`s a must as long as your papers have soaked long enough and youre dipping into your CLEAN tub of water but it helps glide thats for sure.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3125.jpg

using about 5 to i`d say 8 lbs of pressure on your block sand straight back and forth motions starting with 3m 1500 grit in around six inch sections back and forth. make sure to go over each section around 10-12 times or youre pretty much pissin in the wind as far as peel removals concerned. using the back of your block as a sqeegie(sp?) wipe away residue and check your workhttp://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3129.jpg

heres a good example of a section that needs more sanding. notice the small circular dots, thats your culprit. i don`t recomend you always remove 100% of them but if you don`t youre going to be left with some orange peel.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3131.jpg

gone over again in areas with 1500 grit.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3133.jpg

after 2k and removal of tape due to wet stickyness.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3138.jpg

wiped down area with megs 34.

got my excel package today thanks patrick:2thumbs: so i decided to change it up a bit and go with my yellow 4 inch and ohc @1500, it didn`t leave much marring behind but did however leave alot of haze.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3143.jpg

pc did the rest with orange and oc spritzing each pad.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3147.jpgthis here was enough to compound 3/4 the panel i did today.

after oc and orange 4 inch @ speed 6

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3150.jpg

onto white 4 inch and op @ speed 5(which was seperated when i grabbed it due to lack of use i pressume, shook the hell out of it and good as new.)

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3148.jpg

and after ophttp://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3151.jpg

rmg via 4 inch blue @ speed 4 this was enough for the whole section.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3152.jpg

topped with nattys blue and aw.

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o104/superiorautodetailing/DSCF3158.jpg
