I just used paint cleaner, polish, and applied a coat of wax to my car. Is one coat sufficient enough or do I need another, or possibly more coats of wax?

I would think that once coat should do fine. Depending on the wax, your protection could last quite a few months.

Some waxes don`t layer well, however there can still be an advantage to applying a second layer to better ensure uniform coverage. What kind of wax did you use?

Apply at the very least, 18 coats.
:) J/K of course. During my wax days, I used to apply 2 coats for even coverage, and more if I got bored.

Yea one is fine, sometimes I will do two just to make sure i hit spots that might have been missed on the first pass.

I used Meguars carnuba. I might put a second coat in some places for even coverage.
