Actually, it is affecting me. I wish I could take that money wasted on higher gas prices and pay my bills off quicker, but I can`t. I don`t know of another commodity that I regularly consume that has gone up more than 20%+ in the last month or so. That is hardcore inflation. It is affecting the retail sales numbers also, so apparently it is causing more discomfort to Americans than just the bagel eating community.

Don`t know if you`re insinuating that Americans have nothing better to spend their money on than bagels, but I can think of plenty of things I`d rather spend that cash on, than at the pump making oil companies billions. I wish my salary went up 20% in a couple months!!

And, for the record...I hate bagels!

I saw it as a sort of jab towards people who drive vehicles ridiculously larger than their needs. Maybe I was wrong in the interpretation...

I was talking to my parents last week and they were complaining about gas prices. The ironic thing is, they have 2 SUV`s and a sports car.

I drive an MX-5 and the gas prices haven`t stopped me from going on joy rides. A 2 hour joyride around the twisties is worth the $10 it costs.

And indeed, it will take such a thing before Americans finally get the sense knocked into them and start buying smaller, more sensible and efficient cars. Small diesels are the future.

But then again, don`t ask us Americans. I guarantee you the first thing my fellow country people will ask for is for their government to give them a free handout and bail them out of something like the gas tax.

Oh wait, that`s already happened

You ain`t seen nothin yet...$4 by mid-summer; and a strong hurricane in the Gulf will probably push it up over $5.

Crude prices continue to drop, gas prices continue to rise. Absolute ********. I don`t care what anyone says, there is a gouge factor in gas pricing. That or I`m just another whiny American who is finally beginning to get a TINY taste of what the rest of the world already pays for gas. At least we`re not in the UK!

Absolutely we are being price gouged. Its subliminal brainwashing...in a few months the oil companies will have the public believing that $3 gas is cheap. And next year, same sequence of upping the prices and people yearning for the days of $3 gas... haha, I remember back when people freaked when it hit $1 a gallon!
