I`m going to take car of my mom`s neglected silver Lexus RX330, it`s a 2004 and has maybe been washed once every 6 months since my parents bought it. No wax, just wash and towel dry so it`s paint is still silver but it doesn`t pop at all.

I bought some Duragloss 601, 105 and AW. Is there anything I should do before using these besides clay?

Also do i need the Duragloss 601 on new cars? I bought my VW GTI in white about 2 months ago, can I just use 105 and top with AW?

The 601 just increases durability of 105, it is not something that is absolutely necessary. As long as you clay the car, you can apply 601/105/aw and the car should be good for at least 5-6 months.

so do I still need to polish or should the clay be enough?

Is the car swirl free or are you just looking for protection, if you are happy with how the paint looks then go ahead with the duragloss process, but if swirls are something you are not happy with then you might want to polish out the paint first and then apply duragloss on it.

theres very few swirls but it`s hard to tell because the color of the silver is so light

I`d polish it out with an abrasive... that always seems to kick the gloss up a notch for me.
