A little background story:

So I had an opportunity to work on this 1954 Ford F100. My coworker had worked on this for 8 years. For the past two years, He`s been putting it together piece by piece finally. When he got this truck, it was in pieces but this truck probably have more original parts than any other ones you see. He wanted a daily driver classic truck, so he built from the bottom up. Anyways, He finally finished it one day and decided to drive to work for us to check it out, and the first thing I saw was the $5k paint job he spent on it. It was full of swirls and holograms, so I opened my mouth and ask him if he would like to hire me. After some explanation about the condition of the paint, he decided that he would. So I`ll let the pictures speak for itself.....

Looks pretty good from this far.

You can see the holograms on the paint when the sun hits it directly.

So we set up for yesterday to work on the truck. He even set up the canopy for me when I got there. He pretty much left me along for about 4 hours while him and his wife went to a Saturday service so I had some time to do some quick test spots.

If you look closely, where my finger is, is where i had a masking tape going through the middle, so the area farther away is where i used the rotary and took out about 90% of the swirls.

Before Rotary. So I started after what I saw could be done. I like the way the door panel was reflecting so I stopped to take a quick photo.

After Rotary. Notice the flash from the camera became just a dot and not spread out like the previous picture.

I really liked this shot. The reflection of the garage and my rotary was actually better in person but the tailgate came out really good.

Can you believe all I did to this wheel was with Last Touch (at 1/4 ratio, was running out so I filled it with more water at half bottle) Tire was dressed with the STP Tire Foam.

His friend dropped by to see my work when I was only at the rotary stage and he got my card and said he`ll call me soon to set up a date for his. WhoOO!

Enjoy!

And here`s a little fun with photoshop.... Before and After.

Interesting that you used 80 with both the rotary and PC did u use the PC to remove the imperfections left by the rotary?

^From my experience the 80 rotary, 80 pc is a great go to. 80 by rotary has enough bite to remove some pretty good swirling and hologramming. 80 by PC would clean up any light hologramming.

Because 80 has the same oils as #7 (something milder like #9/#82 doesn`t have the same, deep oils) but is somewhat hard to get a hologram free finsh with, sometimes you have to follow it with the PC. Now that I use a rotary to finish out 99 percent of my work, I would switch to #82 with 7006 pad then maybe hand apply #7.

That truck looks awesome, you did an amazing job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great turn around!!!!!
