Whew, what a weekend! I will get right into it. The owner has both the 2005 Ford GT and the 1988 Porsche 930 Turbo. The GT was bought new about two years ago I believe and the Porsche was just bought used a month ago. I apologize in advance for lack of better “sun-shining†pictures. It was raining all day Friday and yesterday was cloudy ALL day :( :( All the pics were taken yesterday (Saturday) evening. It was the only time I had and sun wasn’t playing nice throughout the day.

First the Ford GT completed on Friday. Car was already pretty clean. Did a QD wipe down and the wheels were cleaned with APC and MF towels with the little brake dust that was on there. The car isn’t driven much and half of its 2,5XX miles are on the track. The condition was very good with only minor swirls and some marring here and there. This detail took a long time due to its design (so many crevices, vents, curves, angles, and the clear bra) The clear coat is also pretty hard!! The clear bra had the most evident swirls but since they are very soft its usually easier to correct.

Final Process:

QD Wipe down and Clay to lower panels and some areas of top surfaces as needed.

APC on the wheels.

Menzerna 106FF with orange cut pad @1300rpms (D@mn minor swirls in hard clear!)

Clear Bra polished with blue finessing pad @ 1000-1200rpms

Plasti-x protect on clear bra.

Menzerna 106FF with blue finessing pad @1300rpms

Zymol HD Cleanse

Zymol Vintage

Glass cleaned with Sprayaway

Interior was a quick wipe down and vacuum.

Quick wipedown with FK425 of Engine Bay

Tires dressed with Z-16

Started: 8:45am left at 9pm with a one hour lunch during.

Total Time about on the detail about 11 hours.

No Before Picsâ€Swirls didn’t show up on camera very well

This 930 Turbo was completed yesterday and boy was it one tough job. Overall the car’s general condition is excellent. The car only has 25,xxx miles!!!! Like I stated above, he had just recently purchased it a month ago and wanted it to look its best. BUT the moderate to heavy swirls were deep into the finish of this ORIGINAL Single Stage Finish. Not one panel has been repainted! I took paint gauge reading and almost everywhere was reading from 130-145. Although the paint had light to medium hardness, the swirls that were in there required a lot of work to get out. I tried multiple combos for almost an hour getting frustrated in the progress. Certain combos didn’t get the swirls out or others left bad half circle marring. I never had this much trouble with any other single stage finish I have done. What was Porsche using in ‘88 when they painted this car! After everything was said and done, I simply did not have enough time to perfect the entire car. The major panels came out pretty good but the areas such as the A-pillars, parts on the rear end (wing area), areas of the small bumpers, and some others needed to be addressed. My 4inch pads wouldn’t fit into most of the areas safely so I polished by hand those areas to “brighten†them although the swirls still remain. Also, having to clean my pad after every panel and having to tape ungodly amounts of trim on the car delayed me as well.

Final Processâ€

Wash and Clay (car was pretty contaminated)

Hi Temp EC / 106FF (80/30) with Orange Cutting pad @ 1500rpms

Hi Temp EC / 106FF (50/50) with white polish pad @ 1500rpms

Menzerna 106FF with grey finish pad @ 1500rpms to 1200rpms

Fk425 Wipedown

LSP – Souveran (Wanted to do Zymol Ital but I knew I wouldn’t have enough time)

Wheels and exhaust polished by hand with Flitz

Tires Dressed with Z-16

Glass cleaned with Sprayaway

Interior wipe down and vacuum

Started at 9:00am (took no lunch break) finished up everything I could at 10:00pm.

Total Time on the detail was 13 hours. Honestly it still could use some more for those areas I mentioned.

I charge 50 an hour. You can imagine the bill was not cheap. :) I always try to get the finish near flawless as I can with time allotted. Everyone has heard of the "10 footer" car (looks great from 10 feet away), I like to make a car a "4 incher" :)

The Turbo looks awesome. Very nice job. I have a black `92 911 Cab, so the 911s run close to my heart.
