05 STi Swirl Removal

Nothing too crazy, sad part about this car is it has under 10k miles and is garage kept...first paid detail for the season for me, testing out some poorboys trim restore on the vinyl and optimum compound/polish for the swirl removal.

First off nice work, second what pads were you using? My swirls look about like that, but alas my car is a 1993 legacy Turbo.

I used wolfgang orange pads for the compound and wolfgang white pads for the polish. Porter cable 7424 6.5 inch polishing buffing pads (http://autogeek.net/vcpad.html)



I don`t have any before and after on the trim unfortunately, I`m going to be doing a syclone this weekend and I`ll make sure to photograph the before and after. I`ve used back to black, some discontinued turtle black chrome and the poorboys so far and poorboys is by far the easiest to use, doesn`t smear and look uneven. I just don`t know about the durability yet.

The car looks a LOT better. After you applied the trim restorer was it dry to the touch? Is it greasy?

I put it directly onto a mf cloth, rubbed it on then let it sit for 15 minutes and buffed. After I buffed it the greasy feel was gone.

I have a few full car shots that I`ll put up this afternoon.



I used Fourstar UPP for the sealant.



I like the trim restore so far, very easy to apply and comes out very even. I just have to check out how durable it is, I don`t expect much since all the types of vinyl/trim dressings I`ve used usually don`t make it passed the first rain or two.

Looks great. How hard is the clear on those?

Wasn`t really that hard, I got a lot of the swirls out with the polish...so much so I was tempted to leave it at that but I had to make a pass with the oc to get some stubborn swirls out.
