View Full Version : What towel/material do you polish metal with ?

I tend to just use old regular white T`s since polishing metal usually get`s dirty really quick.



I recall reading a blurb on a *motorcycle site and they strongly suggested MF due to the softer nap.



Maybe it`s just me....but I think the MF is a waster to use on polishing metal unless it`s a leftover old MF that is doomed to be a throwaway after the metal polishing....in which I do have a couple just for that.

I would use a 100% cotton terry towel. As you mentioned, polishing metal is going to pretty much ruin the towel anyways. Terry also adds some extra bite to the polishing action. Costco sells a bulk pack of terrys for pretty cheap; they work well for this function.

I like to use terry cloths or even old clean T shirts. I will use an old MF cloth for a final shine wipedown

For rims I use a mf towel, but for exhaust tips and other metals I use either a throw away mf towel or whatever rag/terry cloth towel available.
