Hi. I am a newbie to detailing. I found some old wax in the garage the other day, it says 100% carnuba wax. I`ve heard that they don`t make 100% carnuba wax anymore, so it must have been sitting there for a long time. Is it still usable? Should I heat it up first? Thanks in advance.

I don`t think they ever made 100% carnuba wax.

Could you post a pic?

Does the product look okay after shaking.

as long as mold isn`t growing in it or it isn`t seperated it should be OK to use

What`s the brand? Anyway, sneek is right, there`s never been a 100% carnauba wax.

Thanks everyone for answering my questions. Sorry I didn`t get back to the question. I found out that they`re just Turtle Wax, and made in 1991 (the brown one), and 1997 (the green one). The brown one is still kind of liquidy / paste-like, and the other one claiming to be 100% carnuba seems still paste-like. Thanks again.

100% pure carnuba blend is not 100% carnuba....just good marketing.

The green one doesn`t seem to look too normal. The red one you could probably use, but I think I`d just go for the products that are sold in stores or online now.

Regardless of age, I`d toss them both and get some real wax

I`ve never liked Turtle Wax waxes, hence the comment.

It`s not 100% carnauba wax in the tin. That`s a fancy, misleading way to say they took a piece of 100% carnauba wax and mixed it with a bunch of other stuff. Just like all the juice bottles at the store that claim that they are 100% juice, but you look at the ingredients list and the first two items are water and corn syrup. They just mix some pure juice with a bunch of water.

LOL!! That was funny!

Anyway, I would also toss them and buy the modern car waxes. You can buy the Meguiars products at your local Wal-Mart at a low price.
