Yesterday I detailed a 65 Stingray. It was restored over ten years ago and had a lot of simple flaws (orange peel, some stress fractures around some edges etc.) The clear was PITA as it was pretty hard. Since the entire car is fiberglass I was unable to measure it with the paint gauge, so perfection here was not the goal. I got about 90% of the swirls out. Some just did not want to come out and I didn’t want to chase them down reducing too much clear. (yes the paint had clear coat) Swirls were pretty heavy, little bit of oxidation and haziness.

Process:

Wash

Clay x2 (panels were very rough)

Hi Temp EC @ 1500rpms and yellow cut pad x2 in most areas

Menzerna 106FF @ 1500rpms and white polish pad

Last Friday I actually detailed the F430 while it was cloudy, cold and rainy. The car had some holograms from the dealer, light swirls and medium swirls in the clear bra up front. The car only has 550 miles on it! I only was able to get pics of it yesterday since the day I did detail the weather was not too good. It had been under a cover a week since the detail and I simply did a FK425 wipe down to get cleaned up for some pics. Unfortunately the sun was going down behind the hills when I started to finish up the Stingray.

Here`s with both cars in the pic :)

The owner was very nice and even let me drive both of them. Both cars are ridiculously fast! The owner also spent a lot time outside with me wanting to learn proper car care techniques and simply having pleasant conversation.

Questions and comments as always.

Thanks I dont live in that neighborhood :) The scenery there is very nice. Only problem is that open air is not too friendly for my seasonal allergies.

Wow, that`s amazing work!! Must have been a blast to work on those two cars.

I just love how a 65 Stingray and F430 get parked next to a John Deere, priceless!

The pics of the stingray are so good that if your Acura (I think?) wasn`t in that one pic, you would think they were sales ads for car back in 65`. The car probably looks *better* than it did back then!

Excellent job.

Haha, I was pissed that pic was my best one that I took and my car had to ruin the background. I wish I was a photoshop pro and was able to "seemlessly" remove my car.
