Hey guys, I just finished this car today, took 10 hours just for the exterior, and i didnt even get to the wheels and wells yet

I came to find out that the clears on these cars are ROCK hard.....

I couldnt get all the swirls out, i have to find something much more aggresive to add to my arsenal in case things like this come up again. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Steps:

QEW wash (yes i still use it, i stocked up some time ago. ONR is next on the list!)

Clay with Megs clay

Optimum Compound with Orange LC ccs pad (5.25")

Optimum Compound with Yellow LC ccs pad (5.25")

Optimum Polish with White LC ccs pad (5.25")

Megs #26 Yellow Wax

Windows cleaned

Well here are some before pics, the swirls were BAD but the camera didnt show it too well:

This is after a pass with OC and orange ccs pad:

I figured i would need to switch to the OC with yellow ccs pad, heres what it looked like after that combo:

The Afters: The camera did this car a lot of justice, there are still swirls, not too bad anymore, but there are still some left.

Looks good - I`d highly suggest picking up some of hi-temp`s paint levelers. Optimum has done very well for me as a medium polish, but when I run into hard clear or deep marring I reach for Hi-Temp`s extreme cut. Follow it with OP or FPII, and you`ve got a mirrored surface.

HTEC can be properly worked in via PC??? Great job on the car!

Still looks a lot better. :)

It can be just as frustrating when you are dealing with super soft paint too, really hard to finish it out without marring.

Thanks Scott, never thought about the super soft paint either, good point, that would suck.
