autogeek says the 6.5" LC CCS pads are to be used with an orbital, and the 7.5" with rotary...

i`ve used the old, contoured 6.5" pads on my rotary with great results before, so just wondering, those of you who have tried the 6.5 pads with rotary... is it fine? it won`t destroy the pads will it?

sorry for dumb questions, but i haven`t tried the new pads... still livin in the past :sadpace:

I`d reccomend the CMA CCS pads with the constant pressure backing for the rotary. They allow for for more pad flex. I`ve gotten the white CCS pad to finish hollogram free with ZPC at 1000 rpm.

The 6.5" CCS pads are completely flat, whereas the 7.5" pads are beveled. The 7.5" pads actually have a 6" center flat portion that makes the majority of contact. When compressed, the contact patch is probably more like the 6.5" ccs, and the beveling allows you to angle the pad without worrying about riding the edge of the pad.

Also, CMA was pretty adamant about not using the 6.5" pads with the rotary. *shrugs*

weird- they work great with the rotary and a rotary is less harsh on the velcro backing than a PC

I think CMA is recommending the 7.5" curved edge pad because it can probably be centered more easily. From looking at the picture, the 7.5" pads looks like it has a centering hole along with a recessed area for the backing plate.

The 6.5" flat pads on the other hand has a completely level, 100% covered velcro back with no centering hole.

I have used their 5.5 pads with a rotary...and get great reults..I just drop the speed down a hair...also used the ones Danase have..5 1/4 inch pads on my test hood...and got great results....I use 1100 rpm instead of 1500 and worked out fine...

The 6.5" pads work nicely via rotary... I`ve seen the green one finish out hologram free @1500. Only on Ceramiclear though, you`ll want to use something softer on regular paint.

the CMA CCS pads I got had a hole in the center of the velcro to perfectly center with a Megs rotary backing plate

The smaller LC CCS pads are my pad of choice with the rotary. I really like the orange.

LC has a larger and a little thicker flat CCS pad that they recommend for the Rotary. These are great as well. I just like the control I get with the smaller ones.

:) I use the 6.5 CCS`s with the Meg`s 6 inch BP. I like it like that.

thanks for the replies guys... good to see others find the 6.5" pads useful with the rotary... i went ahead and ordered yellow and orange 7.5" CCS just to give CCS a try, but will definitely pick up packages of the 6.5" ones soon

I really hate those VC shaped pads. They tend to be too grabby on a rotary, even when you lay them totally flat. I`m fighting with the rotary to gain control...maybe I need more practice.
