I have been doing my bike since I got it..
Through word of mouth and some forum advertising-I got asked to detail this CBR from a guy who just came back from a long road trip through the US about 5000km ride...quite a bit..

Anyhow..the bike was a mess and darn I forgot to take a `before` picture...thought of it after I began washingit-I took one anyway...you`ll see the grime and sticky tack on the tank from his glued on tank bag etc....
He wanted the gol din his chain to reappear, mags to be cleaned really well, they fron wheel had some lock-tite over spill on it..that came off with 3M 1500 grit rubbing compound, tail was scratched and also had sticky glue tack on it..that cam eoff as well goo gone does wonders.. I detailed the bike everywhee I could. If my hand was able to touch it, I cleaned it ..that was my selling point explanation and philisophy..I think it came out pretty darn good..
This is what I used:
SSR 3 (yellow)
SSR 2.5 (orange)
AIO--I wasn`t happy in some areas..so:
I jumped on the 3M Rubbing Compund 1500 grit(Yellow pad) for the hard spots, mostly tank sides and top tail..3M did it.
After that:
Poor Boy Pro Polish
UPP
Nattys.
Not to mention the Mothers Chrome polish on pipes etc.
TGel liquid gel on all black plastic moldings and covers.
and finally some engine detailing spray for the wires nook and crannies..wiped down with a old MF towel..

so? how does she look??

before-sticky glue residue-goo gone did the trick

Ohh ya..didn`t I write that in my firsttext??
Well I tried a few things before trying the well know stuff like Simple Gren.
I tried a mag wheel degreaser...did nothing.
Then I tried some polish cleaner..nothing..
Then I said screw that...I soaked it with Simple Green and that did it..

Mind you let`s take ijnto account that most of these products that I tried should be used without the surface being wet... I had washd th ebik eso there was water on the chain...I didn`t really let the mag wheel cleaner (can`t recall which one I used) to soak..
I applied and started wiping..
Even the Simple Green wouldn`t clean the chain on first contact.. I had to let it soak for about 5 minutes.. that did it.

I think any good degreaser that I would have let soak would have cleaned the chain..

Ok...how much would you guys have charged for this job..
It took me roughly 3 hours..
Post your prices and I `ll tellyou what I offered as a service.

Well let`s say I offered him two deal packages.
1. clean up-soap wash, a little simple mag cleaning and nothing maticulus.

or

2. full detail.."where my hands fit , I clean" deal..
I smashed my finger tips many times on the nook and cranny areas bufing off tuf stains and that loctite was hammered into the front mag..3M pulled me through that..
so lets hear your prices......

Man, that`s some nice work you did there.

Did you have him make out the check to Poorboys, because you know that`s where the $100 will end uphttp://www.detailcity.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
