I honestly still use armorall in my personal car however I know there`s quite a few out there who are totally against armorall. I am trying to stay in the Meguiars brand however willing to change if need be, what products would you recommend my using to clean as well as add "finish" to interior surfaces such as dashboards and vynill? I would like to give the customer the ability to choose between a matte and a glossy finish...

Armor-All is really not all that bad. It got a bad rap from it`s product years ago which at that time caused some cracking of vinyl dashboards. They have reformulated the product many times over and there has been more than one or two changes to vinyl manufacturing over the last 30 years!

That being said, I personally like either either the Meguiars #40, 303 (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/303-30340.html), or my current favorite Optimum Protectant. The 303 has outstanding UV protection and the shine can be controlled through the application process. 2 or more coats gives shine, but not the greasy shine common with many petroleum based products. Additionally, Sonus makes two really nice vinyl protectants and they are priced relatively close to the other competitors price point. Their products are Sonus Total Eclipse (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/son-700.html) and Sonus Cockpit Detailer (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/son-620.html). I have tried them both and really have no preference except to say I lean a little towards the Eclipse for it`s higher UV value. (I am in the brutal high desert sun)

Just food for thought, you might educate your customers on how the shine reflected on the window from a glossy dash can hinder their ability to see at certain times of the day based on the sun`s angle relative to their dash. I had a few customers who wanted the slick/glossy shine until I explained to, and showed, them the difference between matte and glossy. Now they ALWAYS choose matte finish.

Hopefuly some of this is of value to you

Usually use Meguiars APC 10:1 to wipedown the interior, then PoorBoys Natural Look for protection.

I just really do not like Armor All because of the greasy feeling it leaves. I prefer the inside to have a matte look. 303 works very well...And if you want to stay OTC, you might want to try the Megs interior wipes...They are not all that bad.

For interior cleaning..like grubby kid hand stuff, I like Meguiar`s #39 and Vinyl and Leather Cleaner from Tropi-Care. Meguiars#40 has some fairly decent cleaning ability as does NTS7`s interior cleaner. (Ya get the feeling I try a lot of stuff?)

For a protectant, I would go a few different ways, but only in the need of 2 products...

Leather Interior

-Matte: Zaino Z10

-Sheen: Zaino Z10 : Zaino Z16 (7:1)

Cloth Interior

-Matte: Zaino Z16 : Water (3:1) ---- or a damp towel wipedown on full strength Z16

-Sheen: Zaino Z16

Cool, great advice so far, I have one more question, are there any Meguiars products that can leave either a Matte or Sheen finish? I can order them if really need be as the option to choose between Matte and Sheen is important to me...

Okay I should ask what products leave a Matte / Satin finish?

and what products leave a sheen / glossy finish?

I desired to offer them both as an option...

Just my opinion, but, NXT Protectant is pretty damn shiny and #40 is more matte. I disagree on the smell of #40 being awful. It is "chemical" like but I would say that it smells like `new car` vinyl and it wears away within a few hours. Kinda smells like Armor All.

NXT protectant can be a little hard to find as I believe it has been discontinued. I don`t have enough experience with their new consumer line products to offer and opinion.

go to Auto Detailing Business Opportunity (http://www.detailking.com) and click on super mall they have a great product you can use called Pearl Gloss Interior dressing. I have been using it , works great. You can even use it on the steering wheel, but use a dry wipe after and it won`t be slippery. the stuff goes along way and has a good clean odor. Last longtime and does not collect dirt like amorall or any other greasy product would. I just got into the buisness myself and I am very happpy with the product.
