So I just started detailing this harley and I bought Blue Coral Chrome polish... and a bunch of micro fibers. Anyways its marring the chrome. I dont believe I am pressing to hard or anything..

Is there a better product?

Method?

Tool?

FYI its a 2003 harley road king 100th anniversery with lots of money into it and 1200 miles.. Also reinnhart exhaust if that means anything (im not a motorcyle guy)

CHROME IS EVERYWHERE! I just dont want to screw it up!

Blue Coral isn`t the best metal polish, but it shouldn`t be marring the chrome.

What other kinds of polish do you have available?

mothers mag polish but it says not to use on chrome... AHHH!!! its annoying its deffinately marring the chrome. Tommorow I am running home and going to grab some Collinite Metal polish... Collinite has never let anyone down before.. I have used it on boats but i doesnt have the scruteny of a bike!1!

What defects does it have that you are trying to correct with metal polishes? It may not need anything like that.

The best thing I have found for chrome is Prime Acrylic.

By the way, this is Prime Acrylic on chrome.

That looks great!!! I guess I am not really correcting much.. I am trying to get off some spots of corrosion(if thats what it it) Mostly on the S&S heads. Its little dots on the chrome

I`ve had good luck with PB`s Pro Polish and Meg`s NXT Metal Polish on chrome. Depending on the quality of the chrome job, it may scratch very easily, and I have never personally been able to get swirls/scratches out of chrome.

just for an update the collinite was ok it still marred... I then just switched to a mothers liquid stuff for chrome. That seemed to work ok and leave no marring.

It sounds like you need more cleaning than marring correction....I prefer polishing soap fr that.

Chrome polish is a bit misleading as you can`t polish it like you can aluminum..it`s mostly a very mild abrasive and chemicals to clean. If chome is scratched, it`s goin to stay scratched..it`s too hard and thin to correct

I actually like the el cheapo TW chrome polish to do any major cleaning and then use AIO or Prime to get the decorative stuff pristine and protected.

I`m not sure how well AIO/Prime holds up to the hot parts..I usually just go with the TW polish or even glass cleaner if it`s not bad
