I am looking for some cheaper flights from Detroit to Fort Lauderdale FL. Anyone know of good sites to book round trip flights on? It won`t be until November, I am just planning ahead..

I just checked, Southwest has flights that go from Detroit to Ft Lauderdale. You can book directly through their website although they wont let you go that far ahead, November, to check fares as of yet.

I have had decent luck with Cheaptickets.com and Expedia.com

Travelzoo (http://www.travelzoo.com/) is an interesting place. Lots of last minute deals and regular deals.

Another good place is Tom Parson`s Bestfares.com (http://www.bestfares.com/home.asp)

This site has 10 top tips for getting the cheapest fare. The website gives more info on each tip. Good stuff, here`s the first 5.

Michael Bluejay`s how-to airfare guide (http://airfare.michaelbluejay.com/)

#1 Be flexible with your travel dates.

#2 Book at least two weeks ahead, preferably three.

#3 Staying over Saturday no longer necessary.

#4 Fly mid-week if you can.

#5 Using neighboring airports sometimes gets you cheaper airfares.

Suprisingly, you can often find the best rates on the Airline of your choice`s website.

if your gonna book a flight do it now because the Airlines are raising there rates..I don`t beleive by much though 10$ each way on a thousand mile flight smaller flights will go up $3-4$ each way, further the flight the more money..

I like www.mobissimo.com for finding flights. Then go directly to the airline website and buy.

I like to use Sidestep.com for finding flights. It`s a search engine that finds flights on pretty much all the websites and brings them back in the search results. It pulls information from sites like Orbits, Travelocity, etc. and also the individual airline websites like Southwest.com, etc. This site has saved me money countless times and made booking a flight much easier.

Bob, find the best price you can using the on-line searches and then you can usually book the same flights for the same price directly with the airline. The only exception might be Southwest, which I don`t think will show up in a search outside of their own web-site (but I might be wrong).
