The good: I finished up a nice, low mileage Z4 that the dealer pre-sold before I got it. Low mileage (13/k) and no stone chips. Used Optimum compound with a gray 3M finish pad on the rotary and a #8006 on the Festool to polish some light scratches. Glazed with XMT, then a coat of #26 for the final touch.

The Bad: Getting ready to start on this de-badged white 540i with black interior. It was so cold, the pressure washer froze! Ended up with ONR and was able to clean the wheel wells with pressure water.

Interior is all black, including Zebra wood trim!

The UGLY! Nice 745 with horrible paint condition awaiting me. This is gonna consume a tone of recondition time!

Hopefully, the dealer will get this washed before I start. It will give me a good chance to inspect the paint some more. Probably wet sand horizontal surfaces and compound with the DeWalt "big bertha"

Diggin` that shop with the lights! Great work on the Z4!

How`s the Festool working for you? What`s your relationship with the BMW dealer?

The lighting and equipment is first class! The dealer is a small shop that sells pre-owned late model Bimmers exclusively. He has a small shop (which is also the detail area, so I keep it clean too) and sells about 100 BMW`s per year. Very nice setup and all the cars are coming off BMW Leasing, so they have remaining warranty.

The Festool is a joy to use! Much more versatile than a Porter-Cable with the ability to go rotary. I use it for small areas the DeWalt is clumsy in and on the plastic pieces like bumpers, mirrors, lower rocker panels. I`ve gotten a few burns with the DeWalt and none since I switched to the Festool in these areas.

Sounds like a nice gig. I bet you`re one of lone few with the Festool on the board! Looks like a quality machine.

Nice job on the z4!

That 5 interior looks different then the usual 5 interiors I have seen. The guy must have done some stuff in there... and yea the zebra is just tacky
