I`ve been saving some new Duragloss products for this day in anticipation and wanted to make sure I understood the process.

The Duragloss products in possession are:

#652 - Pre-Cleaner No. 2

#111 - Clear Coat Polish

#105 - Total Performance Polish

#951 - Aquawax

I`ve used the 652/111 before but the 105/AW are new. If I understand, 105 is essentially the same product as 111 but better so I can eliminate the 111 from my lineup. Should I still use the 652 as my first step? The vehicle in question is an 01 with some swirls and stuff but nothing too major. If I do keep the 652 in use, is this how I apply (the pad kit that I ordered with my PC is the Wolfgang stuff, if that matters)?

652 pre-cleaner = orange pad

105 polish = white pad

951 AW = do by hand

Do I have the idea? And would I use a speed of 3 on the two products?

I`d suggest getting a bottle of Mothers Powerpolish to replace the 652. It will do a good job of removing swirls. Do an ISO wipedown and top with 105/AW.

Are those the right pads to use? Or should I use the white pad on the first step and put the 105 on with a black pad?

You are correct - you don`t need to use 111 and 105 - they both serve the same function as LSP sealants. The 105 is the upgraded and improved DG sealant. Just use the 105 as your sealant and forget about the 111.

Also -consider using DG PBA 601 in place of 111. You apply the PBA then put the 105 on top of it without removing the PBA - then your remove both products at the same time. The PBA helps the 105 (or other DG sealant) bond with the paint and results in improved gloss and durability.

Would I still use the 651 before the 601, or does the 601 have cleaning/correction properties in addition to being a bonding agent?

You would still need to use 652 or another paint cleaner (Klasse AIO, Werkstatt Prime, etc.) prior to the PBA/105.

Ok, great! I still have questions about the pads, though... sorry.

And from the tutorials I read through I got the impression that I should be working at a speed of 3-4, but saw another thread this morning saying that most products won`t do as well under a speed of 6. Is that logic applicable to these products?

Can`t help you with the pads questions - I do everything by hand.

I would add though that if your paint needs correction for even moderate swirls, you would need to use a dedicated true polish to get out the defects. 652 is really just a paint cleaner with very, very minor corrective qualities for minor swirls.

Ok. I appreciate your help, Milestones.

I guess I can try the 652 first since I already have it on hand and if I find it to not be strong enough then I guess I can pick something else up. I think I have some ColorX

If you have swirls, and or some scratches, you will need to get something like Meg`s #83. Use the orange pad to start, go to yellow if it doesn`t work. Wash, clay, compound with #83, then do your PBA and 105. OK I left out the "polish" step. But with a PC, you should be able to finish #83 down fine enough to skip it. Speed? smear the compound on the area (2x2 foot) with the PC off, then spread it with PC on 3.5, after 1 pass with that, bump it to 5-6 and work the crap out of it till it`s clear, then wipe with a MF towel and check your work. And I always apply LSP`s by hand.
