View Full Version : Revitalizing alcantara steering wheel

Hi, newbie here. :)

My year old Lamborghini has a steering wheel trimmed in alcantara. When it was new it felt nice - a little fluffy and really nice to hold. Now, after the dirty hands of mechanics etc and plenty of driving (17,000km already), the alcantara has lost its soft feel. It feels scratchy and hard and the pile has been flattened around the `quarter to 3` position.

I`ve tried warm water and soap, but that didn`t help at all. Does anyone have any thoughts how to bring the fabric back to life?

TIA

Mark

Edit - it`s OK guys. I`ve found a thread on it. Any news ideas welcome though...

I would say that there is not much you can do. Cleaning with any type of cleaner will just make it more stiff and rough. A slightly damp MF might help. I would think about purchasing a new Lambo wheel, or even an aftermarket MOMO or Sparco wheel.
