These white dots do not have texture (either sticking out or concave) and dont wipe off. And they arent the pearl in the paint, = P

What is your take?

Sure looks like clearcoat failure

I believe it to be the very beginning of clear coat failure as well.

Looks like it. I client of mine got a respray on a couple panels from the jaguar dealership, and it had the same thing, except they were unmistakably fingerprints, which somehow caused the CC failure.

Looking at those it almost does look like fingerprints the way the dots line up.

I was thinking the same thing, you can really see it in the second picture of the hood

I had a client with an e36 who had a similar issue with his paint, and it was also clearly a hand print; he said he had been using brake cleaner on his brakes the weekend before and may have used the car to lift himself up...gotten some on the paint and blamo. I forgot all about it until I read this - so have you used brake cleaner recently?

Any chance the car has been repainted? Perhaps even from damage on a new car before initial delivery? This definitely looks like solvent pop, or some people call is clearcoat bubbling. That`s a paint defect. How old is the car (or paint job if it`s a repaint)?

You can google for more info on solvent pop, but here`s one page with some causes and pics:

oh well it is a 97 del sol. mostly original paint, but some one backed into my fender 2 years ago. so the fender and door shell got replaced and the half colored my hood and then cleared it so that side was just cleared no new color.

the previous one is part of my quarter panel / roof and may have been re-cleared as well.

Even still, if this is on a repainted part of the car it`s worth taking it back to the shop that did the work and say that now you`re having issues now with solvent pop and would like them to warranty their work.
