Scratch removal

I was working on my `92 NSX the other day, and I noticed a number of light scratches on the hood. I think a tiny spec of dirt got on my wax application pad. I worked the area over with Griot`s #3 polish several times by hand and didn`t see much of an improvement. I then tried Griot`s #2 polish several times by hand and sevaral more with my orbital. Looked a bit better.

I am thinking of buying Griot`s #1 and giving it a try. Any suggestions? The color, incidently, is black.
