Another quick question that I wasnt sure of.........Are all claybars created equal. Would it be better to buy a higher end claybar ,or just go with an OTC brand like Mothers or Clay Magic? Thanks Again! :wha :dcrules

I think I have read that there are different types of claybars, but as far as the quality goes, who knows. I have only used over-the-counter claybars, but I have always had good results with them. Personally, I don`t feel the need to spend double the price for something that I have had good results with anyway.

Tough question. Most are the same, some are different. There are different grades/abrasivness though.

They are not all the same. I find AM (claymagic) to be more agressive than most of the "yellow bars" (Like Mothers, etc)

There are really only two manufactures of automotive detail clay. However, they make different grades of clay. Vendors choose which clay(s) to carry, and then sell them under their own brand names.

When considering clay purchases, make sure to note the size of the clay bar as well as the level of abrasiveness. Sometimes the price of a clay bar looks like a good buy, but then you find out that it is only about half the size of a competitor`s product.

FWIW - The off the shelf Mother`s clay bar is one of my favorites.

Yup I believe someone here said they are actually a plastic product manufactured by a company in Japan..

I`ve tried the so called "natural" and "synthetic" bars. I have found no difference, besides maybe a little of the aggressivness. My favorite, like many others, is the OTC Mothers bar. Heck, you can get the bar, QD spray and a little bottle of carnuba for about $17! Can`t go wrong IMO!
