I bought a 1997 Caddy STS today extremely dirt cheap. Owner didn`t want it anymore, so he was going to send it to the wholesaler through the dealership.

Cars in amazing shape for its age/mileage. Has 120,000 miles on it, but it runs like new. I have a problem with it misfiring on every cylender except # 2 when its cold, but after it warms up just a little bit, they go away completely. I assume it is just plugs/wires. Hopfully not a headgasket.

For the price, hell, why not. I`ll probably drive it through the winter, the 300ZX won`t make it through the snow, and then flip it for profit in the summer.

So what kinda combos do yo uthink I should use on it? I`ll get some paint pictures soon. beware that its horrid.

I have seen your work and I would not dare to tell you how to detail it

(but if it needs engine work I might be able to help)

Congrats on your new car. I had my eyes on a 98+ STS until I found out about all the head gasket issues. Knock on wood yours doesn`t have them or get them, it`s like $4k to replace them and most mechanics won`t even touch the job. I ended up with a 97 528i. :)

I helped a friend with one, and it was not so bad

what kind of a mechanic would not touch it?

for that kind of money you could replace the motor

Congrats on your new ride Steve. You certainly have class. Caddys are some of my fav cars when I travel. They are going dirt cheap now because of gas prices, other than that they are very good cars, safe, full of creature comforts and powerful with its North Star engine !

What else would the president of Steve`s Auto Detailing be driving ? ...LoL

Haha, sort of dug myself into a hole with that statement. I guess it doesn`t run like new in that sense, but otherwise, the car runs like mad, surprisingly it feels as quick as the buick once you get goin. Down low it doesn`t have much grunt though. Tranny still shifts great as far as I can tell.

The tech 2 couldn`t find anything other than a PO300B code (random multiple misfires).
