Well, today is officially a horrible day. I messed up my paint big time. :aww:

I was backing out of a very awkward situation at a gas station so that I could turn around. Long story short, I scraped my bumper/rear drivers side panel against another car. His car was perfectly untouched, but my poor black tC lost some paint. I tried some Meguiars deep crystal polish/paint cleaner on it, but it still looks terrible. I`ll post some pics in the morning when I can get some light. Any ideas on how to fix my baby without getting the panel repainted or anything like that?

if you scraped the paint off then there isn`t anything that can be done but either touch-ups (if small enough areas) or repainting the panel. with pics we can better assess the damage.

if the damage is light enough, try a touch-up paint pen... www.paintscratch.com

Here`s a resale car i did a couple days ago. I don`t remove dents and the scrape was deep in places but it came out fairly well.

That`s not that bad at all.

You might be able to polish that out with a little elbow grease.

Nope, the lighter looking spots are actually past the CC and paint. You can clearly feel that it is deeper than the rest of the paint. I`m guessing the light stuff is the primer. :(

Someone did the same thing to me (hit and run) a few months ago on my black A4. I couldn`t do anything to it even using the polish and PC didn`t work. Since the bumper is black and made of plastic, I repainted it using the permanent marker.

If you find a better solution, please post because it will be helpful for everyone.

sorry to hear that man. As a fellow tC owner, I feel your pain =(.

I guess if it is too deep, then just try to live with it for as long as you can, and try to save money to buy a bumper. Check junkyards to see if you can score a Flint Mica bumper that`s not in too bad of shape (btw we have the same color!).

At least you don`t have to worry about it rusting or anything since the bumpers aren`t metal.
