View Full Version : EO tire cleaner to remove solvent dressings?

I`ve used nothing but solvent-based dressings in the past. I`ve been cleaning the tires during each wash using my left wash soap or soap directly out of my foamgun (and then a good scrub with Meg`s tire brush.)

Will EO tire and wheel cleaner be strong enough to remove any dressings left on the tire? I want a clean, solvent-dressing free tire.

I would like to start using water based dressings, in particular, my gallon of Hyper Dressing.

Should I use a commercial degreaser like Simple Green or Purple Power?

I think the EO AW&TC will handle it no problem.

While I don`t recall using EO for the sole purpose of cleaning off solvent-based dressings, it has been able to clean some pretty funky tires rather well. So like Mike said above, I think it will work just fine.

Clean them with Westley`s Bleche White, then leave them un-dressed for a week to help sweat out any absorbed solvents, after a week clean them again with Bleche White, then soap and water as you wash the car, scrub good, then apply your water based dressing when they are dry.

Worked well for me.

I just used some to strip the tires down before applying Z16 and it worked great. You may want to hit them a couple times to be sure, but I can`t imagine any dressing being left after that.

My tires are an ugly brown after a good rain and the dressing has been washed off. I`m trying to get rid of that nasty brown and return it to a nice, clean black with or without dressings.
