Hi,

I`m fixing to place an order for either one of these. I have everything picked out as far as backing plates and pads - 5 inch plate if i get the 7424 or 6 inch for the 7336. I`ve never owned a PC before. I noticed a lot of people post about owning the 7424. Is the 7424 easier to use because of the lighting counterweight or having the 5 inch backing plate better for the edge clearance for 6.5 inch pads? I don`t see much difference than the 7336`s one pound difference in counterweight and .5 inch edge clearance with the pads. Just want to be sure before i order.

It really doesn`t matter. The counter weight system was designed with sanding in mind and not the weight of a pad with polish.

They are basically the same except for the counterweight....... and you can order a different one if you`d like for $2 or $3:

My PC has a 5" counterweight and I use a 5" backing plate and I haven`t noticed any vibration problems running pad sizes from about 6" up to 7.5".

Do a search, but I think it was mentioned that the 5" backing plate is the way to go with either machine because you can get into irregular areas better (more flexible).
