hi, i got a question. i have some swirls on my windows that i can only see at night because of the headlights reflecting off my windows. they look like swirl marks, like on paint but on the windows. i was just wondering, how can i remove them? i have heard you can use a brillo pad to get rid of them. i also heard you can just use any rubbing compound. well thanks for any help!

I wouldn`t use a brillo pad, it could leave fine scratches or a haze that will be worse than what you have now. Some have used 0000 steel wool with a good glass cleaner, but you have to be pretty careful with that also...... some report good luck, but some have had problems with it leaving very fine scratches.

It pretty much depends on if the swirls are actually fine "scratches" in your glass or just some streaky residue of some kind.

I`d start out with a good glass cleaner (Invisible Glass (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/stn-91164.html) , Eagle One, NXT (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/meg-g-13324.html) glass cleaner, etc.) and a MF (mocrofiber) cloth. Do your final wipe in one direction (left to right or up/down) to make sure what you`re seeing isn`t residue left from cleaning. Do the same thing on the inside of the glass doing the final wipe in the other direction so you`ll know if the problem is on the inside or outside of the glass.

You might also want to try a dedicated glass polish like Sonus (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/son-160-8.html) or Einszett Glas Polish (http://www.1z-usa.com/sys-tmpl/glass/).

If the swirls are actually scratches in your glass you`ll have to polish them out with something like Eastwood (http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=2010&itemType=PRODUCT) offers or take it to a glass shop.

I use barkeepers friend and lots of water. Zaino makes a great glass polish but my bottle fell and shattered, thus the barkeepers friend. But be careful and use lots of water!
