for cars that are heavily oxidize, would you have to remove the oxidation with something like megs 66 and then jump into polishing/compounding, or just go straight for the compound?

The compound will knock it out. Last time I did an oxidized SS car I used OCP/orange followed by PO85RD/black.
I too usually make it a two step process...first compounding and then final finishing. I don`t much like the way the rotary beheves on heavily oxidized SS, so this is about the only time I use the PC any more.
