Just wondering, these grit marks are on a truck, guess the guy tried to sand out some imperfections and went with a very coarse grit.

Can the PC and maybe some OHC get rid of them?

My PC cant even take out 2000 on my VW. VW paint is hard like rock :chuckle: , but I would venture to say no.

The PC will have a tough time getting 3000grit scratches with a 4" pad and OHC.

It won`t work :)

I have gotten out 3000 grit sanding marks out of lexus, and acura paint, both black. I can`t remember if it was a compounding or polishing pad, but I do remember I only used Menzerna IP on it.

Hit it with 2000 grit paper then buff it out.

What David B. said. I`ve done 2K scratches by hand (though 3K is a lot easier) and that was on hard Audi clear, so you should be able to do it with a PC if you use the right products and maybe 4" pads. 800 or even 1500 is just too much to ask of a PC but the finer grits are doable with time and effort.

I would have suggested 3000 grit, but an 800 grit scratch is pretty deep and it would take a lot of sanding with 3000 to remove it. 2000 grit paper will cut it pretty fast.

To get a PC to remove 2000 grit scratches very easily, use a 4" cutting pad with a fine cut compound, then switch to a 6" pad with a swirl remover polish.

I`ve gotten 2000 grit marks out with SSR 2.5 and a 5.5 orange pad.

Yeah, I didn`t mean to imply that evenflow oughta use 3K instead of 2K. There can be advantages to not using *too mild* a paper for this sort of thing (my Jag`s painter wants me to get some 1500 for initial leveling).
