Well, I noticed this like hazy area of my hood about 5 months ago, along with what I guess you could call paint blisters. Anyways, I washed it, polished it, and everything else you could imagine...but it`s still there.

It was a PITA trying to get it to show up on camera, but here are a few pics...

Any ideas?

hmm...the paint looks really good everywhere else on that spot(trunk it looks like? on a classic car) is that the original paint?

maybe you could try using rubbing compound or something on it.

What polishes did you use????

It looks like hazing.

I doubt you are breaking through the clear.

Sorry ....bad personal experience with it when I was just a "noob"

Shouldn`t be used by the inexperienced.

Always start with the least aggressive.

That is why I would recommend a swirl remover or very fine polish.

Still need to know what he used in the first place. :nixweiss

no problem, thats why i`m here. i was going to suggest as swirl remover, but i wasn`t sure if it would be strong enough to solve the problem

I hope not but it does look like one possibility.....didn`t want to bring the brother down :nervous2:

Understood. Best thing to do is constantly keep a fresh coat of heavy paste on it. That will at least slow it down a little.

Wow! I didn`t expect to get this many replies. I hope it`s not clearcoat failure. I know it couldn`t have been from improper detailing technique as at that point I only washed and waxed...the only time it ever saw anything abrasive polish-wise was when I used PPCL before applying Souveran. But I think a possibility for the cause of it would be me driving my car for about a year and a half without a hood pad, the heat coming off of the engine could have caused the blistering and haziness...but I reeeally hope it`s reversible.

The picture I posted was taken after *trying* to get a hang of the PC using XMT#3, then XMT#1, followed by their Finishing Glaze and NXT-paste so I could top it off with Souveran tomorrow.

But just to repeat myself, I first noticed this spot about 5-6 months ago during my pre-PC era.

Hmm...here`s the same picture in 1280x960

Thanks a lot you guys!

Edit: and oh yea, I know my wiper looks like crap...I need to repaint the arm.

Yep, CC failure for sure. Get and keep some heavy paste wax on it such as 845. Find something you like and use it often in this case.:D

Aw, shot down. :(

So lemme get this right...just apply my paste wax heavily over those areas? Will PS or NXT do the trick?

I wouldn`t "waste" the PS on it as you`ll need to apply a coat every couple weeks to keep it looking decent. It`s at a point where it will go "downhill" fast with a lapse in protection/care. NXT would be OK just use it often.

Thanks SpoiledMan...I think I`m gonna head out to the garage and goop some on right now.

Man, it`s kinda depressing realizing it`s clearcoat failure. I think I thought it might`ve been it...I just didn`t want to believe it. Thanks for the help though man.
