Greetings All! I need some help in removing what I believe are black diesel stains from the paint on my daily driver. I had the misfortune of getting stuck behind a delivery truck that was leaking something fierce.

The day after this occurred, I washed the car and whatever that truck was spraying behind it, I couldn`t remove it from the car`s finish. I tried Maguire`s Cleaner-Wax (white stuff I had laying around). Maguire`s would remove some of the stuff off the hood, but a black ghost stain is still visible. It wouldn`t even touch the stuff on the bumper.

BTW, the paint on the hood is in decent shape considering it`s seen both Texas and California sunshine most of it`s life. The paint on the urathane (?) bumper isn`t the greatest, though.

My question is, is there anything that you guys would recommend me trying in an attempt to get this stuff off the finish? I don`t think anything short of a repaint of the bumper would do anything effective there.

The paint is a factory base/clear coat. I`ve attached photos if it`s any help in getting a recommendation.

Thanks to all!

Gasoline on an old rag to do the grime work, then follow up with appropriate paint treatment.

Another approach that get get off some stubborn stains is claying.
