Is there any hope?

Well I have a few scuffs on my car that are really bothering me and need some advice on whether or not they can be removed.



This is on my back bumper, its a little deep in some spots..

Again on the back bumper, got this as a suprise from someone in a parking lot who didnt feel like leaving a note :cry:

This is around the liscence plate on the back, it looks like someone tried to paint it and did a really bad sanding..really bad swirl marks

Yes I know the car is dirty, I havent had time to give it a good cleaning in a few days. :(

what did you try?



some parts of the second pic look alittle deep! can you feel them with your nail?

how deep are the scratches? can you feel them with your fingernail? if you cannot, they should be correctable...or within 90%+. if you can catch your nail on them, then the best you can do is lessen the visibility. the silver color will help hide them...i think most of it should be hidden by the time you hit it with your favorite SMR products. :)

Most of that can probably be removed or at the very least greatly reduced. As mentioned above, if you can feel them with your fingernail, you can probably reduce their visibility, but you may not be able to fully correct it. If you`re on a budget and you`re trying to do this yourself, then you an try Meguiar`s ScratchX. Just make sure you read the details on how to use it because this is probably one of the most misused products out there. People often get frustrated with ScratchX and think it doesn`t work well when in fact it does work well when used `correctly`. Make sure you wash and clay the area before using ScratchX or any product.



If you have a d/a polisher, then any good diminishing polish should do the trick (i.e. Optimum, etc) after the area has been prepped (washed & clayed). Any good detailer can take care of this for you.

Thanks guys! The scratches in the second pic are pretty shallow, the ones in the first pic are deep enough in some spots to catch a fingernail on. I will pick up some ScratchX this weekend and try it out. I have some ColorX and NXT that I will put on as well. Again thanks for the advice!

You`ll probably have to work at least 3+ applications of ScratchX to make good progress and you really have to work it with some serious passion to make it work well, otherwise it won`t do much. Just make sure to work small areas at a time and work the ScratchX until it becomes clear and almost dissapears. ScratchX has some fillers in it, so you`ll want to remove the residue between each application so you can see the true finish to determine if you have more work to do or not. You can spray the area down with a spray mix of 50% water + 50% isoproply alcohol and wipe it off with a microfiber towl between each application of ScratchX to remove any and all residue / fillers.



You don`t have to wash the area again before applying ColorX since ColorX is a cleaner/polish/wax type of product. It should like pretty nice after topping it with NXT.
