This is the oldest vehicle I`ve done to date.

I just landed a deal with a new referral. The client own 13 vehicles and a motorhome( I`ll post some pics of his set up and rides later). This car was I pretty bad shape. It was purchase last week after being found under some pine trees. I was moldy and oxidized. Simply a mess.

Let`s get to it.

Initial Condition:

Single stage paint oxidation. Lots of "bumps under paint. Massive water spot damage. After talking to my client, he knew that alot of the damage was irreversible. He wanted it to just "shine". Interior was molding and had some water damage. Nothing major though.

The Process:

Meguiar`s NXT Car wash

(No claying on this one. Owner want me to be as careful as possible.)

Meguiar`s #80

(Edge 2K Yellow pad at #5 setting. Had to wash my 3 pad out 6 times!)

Pinnacle`s XMT Glaze

(Edge 2K Blue pad at #3 setting. I really took my time here massaging it into the paint)

Pinnacle Liquid Souveran

(Edge 2K White pad at #3 setting. Once again, slow and easy. Let cure for 1 hour and removed by hand.)

The top was cleaned 3 times with a 6:1 Woolite mixture.

The carpets and seats were cleaned 3 times with Meguiar`s APC cut 4:1.

Tire and wheels got Purple Power full strength.

All interior rubber and vinyl was treated with FK1`s #108 Top Kote Dressing.

Tires recieved Armor All Tire Gell.

All metal got Mothers Metal Polish.

Exterior was wiped down today with FK1`s #425 Poly Wipe.

Total time invested:

12 hours spanning 2 days.

Great job and love to see these old cars, I had one the same color back in 1965 as my first real car.

That car looks in amazing condition for it`s age. Where`s the rust, how`d the interior stay in such great condition without cracks, etc? It was a great find for the owner, that`s for sure.

You did a fantastic job on the clean-up. I don`t understand why the owner wanted to avoid clay, it`s a great way to gently remove surface contaminants. At any rate, a major :2thumbs:

My Dad used to have a few Corvairs, I suppose technically he still does but now they`re worthless. He had them parked on his brother`s farm and several years ago a kid from a nearby rental house broke out every single piece of glass on 3 Corvairs. By the time it was discovered (the cars were parked behind an old chicken coop that`s just used as a storage building), the interiors were wasted from the weather. He used to have a couple more than that, but he`d sold them off to a guy to restore before the glass-breaking incident. The ones he has left are all the later body style from `65+. Ralph Nadar aside, I think they`re great old cars and I sure wouldn`t mind having a clean convertible like the one you worked on as a weekend cruiser.

I like the way your "Work in progress" photos really show how oxidized single-stage paint can be drasitcally improved by polishing. Nice work.
