i will call this the porsche "duraglosster" detail. hehehe :getdown

this was the first car i have been asked to detail (besides my own personal car)...and finally one that is not BLACK. every detail i have done so far was a truck or SUV...and black.

no before shots in the sun...it has been stormy and raining for days here. i got lucky and had a bit better lightly (but still overcast) for the after pics.

process:

-Duragloss CWC wash

-clay

-PC --> DACP with LC orange 5.5" @ 5-6

-PC --> OP with LC white pad 6.5" @ 4

-wipedown with Duragloss FCS

-Duragloss 601 PBA

-Duragloss 105 TPP x2 (2nd coat next day)

-Duragloss AquaWax (a few hours after the 2nd coat of TPP)

-Ridgid wet/vac interior

-Folex on floor mats w/ water rinse

-303 on trim (inside/out)

drop-off condition: the paint looked "good" in poor lighting...while washing it beaded up ok, so the owner appeared to have some type of wax applied. it only has 13k miles on it...kept in the garage more than 6 months out of the year. interior pretty clean except for the usual dust and dirty windshield. convertible roof fabric also fairly clean...not much work needed there.

before pics...the halogens revealed moderate to heavy swirls over the entire vehicle.

i just noticed that the hood was unlatched so it`s not sitting flush with the rest of the car. hehe

overall impressions: easy paint to work with. the hood had a ton of rock chips and such that i could not repair w/ a PC...and a lot of water mark etchings that i didn`t have time to take out. behind the driver seat there was some type of oil (looked like motor oil) that was spilled...that cleaned up quickly w/ Folex and the 4550 ridgid.

i also just noticed a water spot on the back air fin...oops. :doh

sorry for no interior pics...the lighting and weather really sucked for this one. the owner said it "looks brand new!" and was very pleased.

thanks again to everyone on here for all of the helpful info and continued advice!!!

Excellent job, looks you got out all those swirls! :bow

Frustrating, isn`t it? You first look at a car and it looks like it will be an easy detail-then you hit it with the sun or the lights and

thanks for the kind words, guys! :)

yes...funny how they look so nice and easy until you get them under the "god lights". hehe

quote from the owner when it was dropped off: "she is in near perfect condition". of course, that makes for a guaranteed happy customer if they are happy w/ how it looks BEFORE you touch it.
