Earlier this year I bought an SA rated G-Force helmet to use on the track. Luckily it still has that new helmet smell, but I have a few friends whose helmets smell like the sweaty guys they are. :p

So I`m wondering how one cleans the inside of a helmet. I thought maybe I could treat it just like any other interior space, but I wanted to hear if anyone has had any success with this.

Also If anyone has any tips for caring for the shell, I`d like to hear that too. I was thinking of just AIO-ing mine, it has a few small marks on it. TIA. :)

Whatever you do don`t put it in the dishwasher like I hear a lot of people doing with helmets to clean their liners. I generally use an automotive upholstery cleaner to clean mine between cleanings I use Febreeze and let it air dry. One thing that will help to keep your liner clean is to wear a bandana or a specifically designed liner.

I have had pretty good results with my method of keeping my liner clean but, I think for my next helmet I will go for one with a removable liner.

I use AIO on my helmet, including the visor and it works very well.
