Hello. I have sucessfully wet sanded the factory paint on my car several times. My car does not have a metallic paint job. This time I was attempting to fix a 1/4 inch blemish in my paint and realized that I was starting to remove paint after only a couple of seconds of rubbing with the 2000 grid wet sand paper. I stoped as soon as this happened. What do you advise. This area is very easy to see any damage in. This damage is on the roof. To say the least, i am freaked out.

You`ll most likely have to do a repaint.

Maybe some good prep, mask, and a couple shots of duplicolor canned clearcoat?

This is what I would try first. and then wet sand and buff oout the spot.

A picture would help... if it`s not too bad, you might be able to just do touch-up paint.

I looks dull really dull in the area that i attempted to fix. I tryed to polish it back up but that only made the area turn slightly black.

are you sure what your seeing is not just normal wet sanding marks? Have any pictures? What are you using to buff out the sanding marks?

I am using the Langra Wet sand kit. It comes with a polish that you are suppose to apply to bring back the finish after sanding. As i polished the area it just started to remove color. I didn`t want to do anything else to remove paint.

agreed, no need for several time. Normally wetsanding is a last ditch effort.

These other times I used this product it was to remove small imperfections. i did not use it on the entire car or anything.

So you only went over that spot once with 2000 Grit paper correct?

If you post up a picture that would be awesome then we can help you some more.

You wetsanded a 1/4 inch blemish with 2000 grit paper. On my car I`m facing a 1/4 inch blemish but will use 3000 or 2500 unigrit paper with a lube.

How large is the blemish now after wetsanding?

If small, why can`t you touchup the spot and wetsand with something more mild?
